It looks like the Linux kernel of Kali Linux 2007.1 is version 4.9, so YMMV with Workstation 11. I installed the VMware Tools by executing sudo. I was even able to install the VMware Tools into the Kali guest (so the screen resolution is no longer limited, audio driver, copy-and-paste between host and Kali VM, etc). So if you installed Kali Linux 64-bit 2007.1, I suggest you select either Debian 8 圆4 or Ubuntu 64-bit when you create the VM.įWIW, I downloaded Kali Linux 64-bit 2007.1 and I was able to install on 12.5.5 with VM hardware compatibility 11 by selecting Debian 8 圆4. What flavour of Linux did you choose when you installed Kali Linux? Since Kali Linux is not in the list of officially supported Linux OS variants (even on version 12.5.5 which I have), the closest thing would Debian 8 or Ubuntu as Kali Linux is also a Debian variant like Ubuntu.
